The Year of 2005

On August 8, Beijing Benz Daimler-Chrysler Automotive Co., Ltd. was established, proving that the Chinese automotive industry had taken its place on the world stage.

On September 15, a new BBAC plant was established in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone, becoming the leading world-class auto-making plant in China.
The Year of 2007

On September 5, BBAC was officially named chief sponsor of the China Open. This cooperation has become a model for strong alliance across different sectors after nine years of close collaboration between the two parties.

On December 3, the first batch of Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedans officially rolled offline, with ‘BBAC’ printed on their bodies.
The Year of 2008


On October 23, German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited BBAC and attended the rollout ceremony of the 25,000 th domestically produced Benz car. She said: “I am so pleased to see that cars produced by BBAC keep the same quality standards as Benz cars produced in Germany.”
Trekking together (Summary of Phase Development): Just like other long-lasting friendships, Chinese and German shareholders have witnessed a journey from the unknown to the familiar and then to trust in the first four years. This cooperation strengthened mutual confidence to build a much-anticipated dream.
The Year of 2009

On September 30, the first Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan produced in the PbP mode rolled offline. Since then, BBAC has moved from importing the whole set of parts to importing wholesale parts an important step for the domestic manufacturing of luxury sedans.
The Year of 2010

On January 26, Beijing Benz Daimler-Chrysler Automotive Co., Ltd was renamed Beijing Benz Automotive Company. The joint venture partners changed to Beijing Automobile Co., Ltd (BAIC), Daimler AG and Daimler Greater China Investment Co. Ltd. Since then, BBAC’s focus has totally transferred to Mercedes-Benz business, and the trajectory of the Chinese dream has grown clearer.

On May 28, long-wheelbase Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedans the first model produced after BBAC’s transformation officially rolled offline. Chinese consumers embraced their first customized Benz cars.
 
Take Off (Summary of Phase Development): After five years of cooperation, Chinese and German shareholders are firmly linked. Shared objectives and dreams, as well as unchanged commitments, have brought a broad space to both parties, injecting vigor into their mutual dream.
The Year of 2011

On June 28, the BBAC’s Engine Plant, R&D Center and New Project Investment Framework Agreement was signed at the German Chancellery in Berlin. Chinese and German shareholders took an important step towards strategic cooperation, laying a solid foundation for BBAC’s sustainable development.

On December 2, the first GLK-Class luxury mid-sized SUV officially rolled offline, enriching BBAC’s lineup and continuing the journey of the Chinese luxury auto-making market.
The Year of 2012

On May 30, the 10,000 th domestically produced Mercedes-Benz passenger car rolled offline after a month of production, representing a qualitative leap in BBAC’s manufacturing capacity.

On December 3, BBAC officially promulgated ‘Customers First, with Responsibility and Integrity as its core value, and issued the BBAC Codes of Conduct stressing conformity. Corporate culture was further developed.
The Year of 2013

On November 18, the BBAC Engine Plant was officially put into operation. As the first Mercedes-Benz engine plant outside Germany, it represented a transformation from pure auto manufacturing to producing core parts and commanding core manufacturing process technology. Previously, Chinese luxury auto-makers only assembled engines domestically, but could not produce engines locally.

On November 19, BAIC and Daimler AG signed a Strategic Cooperation Delivery Agreement. The share held by BAIC was increased to 51%, proving that the two-year cooperation between the parties was successfully concluded, and cooperation had entered a new phase.
The Year of 2014

On March 28, BAIC and Daimler AG signed a contract to expand BBAC’s capacity. The strategic cooperation was deepened.

On June 26, the three core engine components (block, head and crankshaft) produced by BBAC Engine Plant were sold to Germany. From then on, BBAC was officially included in Daimler’s global purchase/supply chain, while ‘Made in China’ debuted on the world’s luxury auto-making market.

On July 25, the brand new long-wheelbase Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedans officially rolled offline, upgrading the local standard for manufacturing luxury cars. This was the first new model to roll offline since BBAC implemented key strategic projects, representing BBAC and Daimler AG’s commitments to satisfying customers’ demands.

On November 28, the 500,000 th Mercedes-Benz passenger car produced by BBAC rolled offline. BBAC’s powerful manufacturing capacity powered Mercedes-Benz’s domination of the Chinese market.
Drive to Success (Summary of Phase Development): This summer witnesses the 10 th anniversary of the dream pursued by Daimler AG and BAIC. Over the last ten years, BBAC has grown rapidly with enhanced cooperation between the Chinese and German shareholders. This friendship accumulates power for BBAC’s stride into the next brilliant decade.
The Year of 2015

On April 8, the first high-end domestic GLA-Class Compact SUV rolled offline, and the NGCC Plant officially launched production. BBAC became the only JV luxury car manufacturer for both Daimler and China to possess front-drive, rear-drive and powertrain platforms, capable of producing more popular Mercedes-Benz models.

On April 24, standard wheelbase Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedans officially rolled offline, satisfying Chinese customers’ demands for a pleasant driving experience and comfortable driving space. Long-wheelbase C-class sedans were also launched.

On June 29, BBAC’s monthly capacity exceeded 20,000 vehicles, only 37 months after monthly capacity hit 10,000 vehicles. Rapidly growing capacity ensures excellent performance in the customer-end market, and makes Benz cars affordable for more Chinese people.

On July 9, 2015, BBAC’s Engine Plant Phase II Project was officially inaugurated. It marked the completion of Daimler’s first overseas Mercedes Benz passenger car engine plant, and another phase of achievements for BBAC’s platform strategy.
